NYSP Investigating Fire Fatality in Bainbridge

On March 5, 2021 at approximately 3:32 p.m., New York State Police at Sidney and members of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation responded to a fatal garage fire in the town of Bainbridge.

87-year-old Lloyd L. Darling of Bainbridge, NY did not survive.

A trooper was dispatched by Chenango County dispatch to a report of the fire in a garage on County Highway 38 called in by people passing by the address. One person attempted to put out the flames with fire extinguishers. When the trooper arrived, he used his issued fire extinguisher to put out the main fire inside the garage. Guilford, Bainbridge and Sidney Fire Departments put the remaining fire out. The Chenango County Fire Bureau responded to the scene to investigate the fire.

The fire does not appear to be suspicious. The incident remains under investigation.
