SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — The New York State Fair is adding an attraction — a distance run.

The Bubble Blast 5K Run is the fair's first-ever running event, and it's a little different from the norm. It'll take competitors through a foamy obstacle course including the Human Washing Machine and the Sudsy Slip and Slide.

Registration for the Aug. 31 race is under way at www.bubbleblastrun.com , and every runner registered receives free admission to the State Fair.

The run is presented by ACR Health. That's a not-for-profit, community-based organization serving nine upstate New York counties and providing a wide range of support services.

All proceeds will be split between ACR Health's Youth Services Division and Operation Walk. Operation Walk provides free surgical treatments for disadvantaged people who do not have access to medical care.
