In the aftermath of the elementary school shootings in Newtown, Conn., schools across the state and country are re-evaluating their school security measures.

Norwich City Schools superintendent Gerard O’Sullivan says they have plans in place to keep children safe.

"In every building we have a single point of access," he said. "People come through an office or they are signed into the building and that's what we do in all of our buildings. Our plans are on file with state police -- our safety plans -- we practice lock down drills and fire drills. We've added security cameras over the last couple of year. We added card swipes for employees to come into the building. Things are always changing to address these things."

O’Sullivan says they take a look at their security and safety plans on a regular basis and especially when such a tragedy occurs elsewhere. They check for effectiveness and whether additional measures must be put in place.
