If you are a history fan like me, there is no way to get a first burst of information about a new place you are visiting than be taking a historic walking tour.  I do it almost every time I can.  The guides are well-versed on the history facts and trivia of the place and it is  a wonderful way to get the inside skinny of the city, fort, bridge, cemetery, or wherever you are visiting!

This list showcases 15 great historic walking tours found around Upstate New York.  Take it from me, it is hard to pick a favorite one of the group.  I have been on several, and there are others that are on my bucket list.

But, take it from me.  The guided, narrated walking tour along the Walkway Over the Hudson is a special one.  There is no better view of the Hudson Valley below, and, on a clear day, the Manhattan skyline some 50 miles away!  Learn about the history of the old railroad bridge and hear the back story of how the transformation of it into a Guinness Book of World Records-holder took place.

Each of the walking tours are linked to their social media platforms so you can get details and make tour reservations.  Plan in advance, as some may be weather dependent.
