New York State Assembly Passes Minimum Wage Bill
A proposed measure to increase the New York State minimum wage has passed in the Assembly, 101-44.
The bill was expected to pass in the Assembly, but may not have such an easy pass in the Senate.
Among recent proposals to raise the rate include incremental adjustments, raising the minimum wage to $8.50, $8.75 then $9 over the course of two to three years.
The bill's passage in the Assembly comes only days after legislation was introduced by the state Senate's Republican Committee. The bill proposed increasing tax rebates and credits for middle class families.
