A new women's clothing and gift boutique opened its doors during the pandemic six months ago, but it wasn't until this past Saturday, that owner Tara Gates of Mathilda Jean Threads & Finishing Touches located at 5375, Rt. 7, Oneonta, felt it appropriate to have the grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony. It was very well attended by community members and dignitaries including Robert Wood (Town of Oneonta Supervisor), Al Rubin (Otsego County Chamber interim Exec. Dir.), and Kathryn Dailey, Director of Events and Member Services at Otsego County Chamber of Commerce.

Mathilda Jean adds style to the Town of Oneonta and you'll find stylish women's clothing in sizes small to 3X, along with bath and body products, accessories, gourmet food, and even baby and other gift items.

I think area residents will find this boutique to be a very nice addition to Oneonta and it's wonderful to welcome such a nice shop to our area during a tough economic time when so many businesses had to close their doors. New business is a sign of hope for us all and I have a feeling we'll be seeing more new business popping up this year in Oneonta. It's important to support these businesses to strengthen our local economy.

Below are some photos of Mathilda Jean and the grand opening celebration. By the way, if you're concerned about shopping in-person, you can shop on-line and support this store at mathilda-jean.myshopify.com.
