New York State passed a law preventing domestic abusers from owning guns. Governor Cuomo’s office says the new legislation will also expand the definition of “serious” offenses to include some misdemeanors. If convicted, people will be stripped of any gun licenses and forced to surrender their firearms. The new legislation will also prevent people wanted for felonies or other serious offenses from obtaining or renewing a firearms license.
