New $4.6 Million Oneonta Schools Capital Spending Proposal Calls for Security Upgrades

The Oneonta City School Board was presented a $4.6 million capital-spending proposal at its meeting Wednesday night.

Interim superintendent David Rowley said the proposal focuses on security, construction and general upkeep repairs that have not  been addressed in recent years.

"It focuses significantly on improving the security in the building, addressing things like doors that are in great need of repair," Rowley said. "We're now scheduled to vote at our Nov. 7 meeting, and it gives them an opportunity to digest what was presented and ask questions in between and get answers to those questions."

The plan also calls for district-wide technology improvements, including upgrading network hardware and providing wireless service. The plan would also include construction, with new asphalt and new lighting in the parking area near the high school’s gym, among other overdue needed upgrades at all the Oneonta City School Locations.
