Burlington Stores To Replace Vacant JoAnn Fabrics

If you have driven down Route 9 in Queensbury lately and wondered what would happen to the old JoAnn Fabrics spot, it looks like we are getting an answer.

Burlington, the store a lot of us still automatically call Burlington Coat Factory, is planning to move into that location. It is the same Burlington that sells discounted clothing, shoes, and home stuff, basically the kind of place you pop into for one thing and somehow leave with a cart full of random deals.

The company describes itself as an off-price retailer, meaning it focuses on brand-name items at lower prices for the whole family, plus home goods. So think coats, kids' clothes, sneakers, bedding, and all those little household finds you did not know you needed.

Before anything becomes official, Burlington still has to go through the local approval process. The company is looking for a sign variance and will be in front of the Queensbury Zoning Board of Appeals on February 18th.

This comes after JoAnn Fabrics filed for bankruptcy and closed its U.S. stores in 2025, leaving a lot of empty retail spaces behind.

Burlington is actually taking advantage of that. The company has secured leases for 45 former JoAnn locations and plans to turn them into new stores. It is part of a bigger push to open at least 110 new Burlington stores in 2026, with even more possible after that.
