I love to "go up on the roof" to have dinner or a cocktail with my friends.  And, although Upstate New York does not have the sheer numbers that other big cities have as far as "rooftop" options go, we do have plenty of nice ones to enjoy!

This gallery looks at thirteen rooftop establishments from the Hudson Valley to western New York.  Here you can drink, dine and even dance at most of these places.  They are in big cities and some are in smaller rural locations, such as the Adirondacks or the Finger Lakes regions.  All offer their local residents and tourists passing through a unique experience.

And, the views!!  Big cities can only wish!

As far as some of the best rooftop places to see in this galley, be sure and check out the one at a most unusual locale:  the United States Military Academy at West Point!  What a different and surprising place to find a wonderful rooftop dining experience.  And, with the beautiful Hudson River as your front seta view!

If you have a favorite Upstate New York rooftop bar or restaurant that you would like to share with our readers (if it isn't on this list) please visit our Facebook page and do so.  we really would like to hear from you!

Check It Out! Upstate New York's Fabulous, Fantastic Carnegie Libraries

The great industrialist Andrew Carnegie (1835-1919) decided in the last years of his life to give his money away. And it was a ton of money! It is estimated Carnegie gave away 90% of his $350,000,000 fortune. Carnegie Libraries are a wonderful testament to this great man. He donated funds to build 2,500 public libraries all across the country. More than half of them are still standing. Here are some of the 107 public libraries he financed in New York that are located in the "Upstate region."
