Governor Andrew Cuomo is directing hospitals statewide to now prioritize COVID-19 testing for children displaying symptoms similar to an atypical Kawasaki disease and toxic shock-like syndrome. According to the Governor's office, there are currently around 100 cases in New York State where children are experiencing symptoms of those diseases and three children have died.

The New York State Department of Health has issued an advisory about this serious inflammatory disease to inform healthcare providers of the condition, as well as to provide guidance for testing and reporting.
