The Glimmerglass Festival has partnered with the Bassett Cancer Institute and a company called “Bluemack Creative” to protect outdoor staff from the sun by providing them with wide-brimmed hats. This collaboration to protect Glimmerglass staff from the sun was inspired by a radiation oncologist at the Bassett Cancer Institute, Dr. Naoyuki Saito.

"We thought that having hats available to some of our young workers that work outside throughout the season would not only protect them from the sun and addition to that we can also increase awareness about sensible sun enjoyment to the community," Saito said.

Dr. Saito also recommends people wear sunglasses in addition to hats and sunscreen. The Glimmerglass season runs through August 24.
