Educate Your Kids About Veterans Day
Today is Veteran's Day and it's a day we need to honor our veterans. I think overall, we've have been doing better but we can always do more. We should take the time today and talk to our kids about the importance and sacrifice that has been made for us.
Because of them, we enjoy the freedoms that we have, even if we don't agree with what's being said. Right now is a perfect time to educate kids about America's history and our brave veterans.
Here are some activities to do with your children:
Take part in a flag-raising ceremony: Local veteran groups like the American Legion or Veterans of Foreign Wars often participate with military banners and American flags. Too busy for that? How about saying the Pledge of Allegiance with your kids at home. Here are the words.
Take them to a Veterans Day Parade: There is a special Veterans Day Parade in downtown Binghamton which will start at the American Legion, Post 80 on Main Street at 2:00 p.m., and will end at the Broome County Courthouse. Read more about it here.
Take your children to visit a Veterans hospital: There is one in Oxford.
Take the time to thank and remember the veterans who have done so much for us...today, tomorrow, and every day.
