The holiday season continues with this Thursday with the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony and so much more! Streets will be closed from Chestnut Street to Elm Street, and in between will be jam-packed with holiday spirit. This year SUNY Delhi will be joining the fun and bringing their ice sculptures. They will be holding live action demonstrations as well as showing off their finished products. Check them out on the corner of Chestnut and Main.

Also new this year, will be Letters to Santa. The table will be located in front of Key Bank. Children are welcome to come and fill out letters that will be hand delivered to Santa. Santa Clause himself will also be making and special appearance.

Be sure to stop by the Outdoor Christmas Shop in front of City Hall. Local craftsmen and vendors will be selling everything from scarves to jewelry to woodworking. Throughout Main Street, local non-profits will be fundraising and giving away tons of goodies such as s’mores, popcorn, coffee and more. From 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. junior and adult singers will be taking the stage to spread the holiday spirit. Other performers include the Fokine Ballet Dancers, from The Nutcracker, that will be showcasing their talents in the local storefront windows. Make sure you save sometime for the wagon rides and live alpacas too!

All of this, and the Tree Lighting Ceremony at 6 p.m.! The recommended time to get to Main Street is 5 p.m. if you are planning to fit in all of these wonderful activities. Maybe even have dinner beforehand in one of Oneonta’s delicious restaurants. Destination Oneonta is all about supporting the locals!
