Criminal charges have been brought against a former Delhi village clerk for theft of public funds. The grand larceny charges against Michele Barnes resulted from a joint investigation conducted by New York Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli’s office and the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation which found Barnes wrote nearly $4,800 in village checks for personal use. DiNapoli released a statement saying "Barnes betrayed her colleagues along with the public and she will now be held accountable for her actions."
