At a town board meeting held on November 12, the Village of Deposit board has passed resolutions to eliminate the town court and the police department. Board members plan to work with the Broome and Delaware County Sheriff’s Offices to either match or exceed current law enforcement resources. Deposit officials say taxes would have to be increased by 30 percent in order to keep the local police and court. Residents have 30 days to petition either for or against the changes.
