The Baby Boom generation, of which I am a proud member of, has certainly had its own share of "days of infamy."  But the events at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 still make me shiver whenever I read or hear about them.  It must have been a terrifying and life-changing time for millions of Americans.  The "bad guys" were on the march to shores of our country and we were roused to defeat them like no other time since the American Revolution.

Millions of young men raced to the recruitment centers, families were split apart, women flooded the work place for the first time, shortages and rationing descended upon the land.  It would be four years of hardship ahead.  Fear was afoot in America on this day in 1941.

FDR's speech the next day still rings like a clarion call some seven decades later.
