The Friends of the Cooperstown Village Library Sunday Speaker Series returns for the 2020–2021 season with a slate of monthly programs scheduled from October through May. For the first two programs—both accessible on Zoom—community members are invited to read ahead of time the books that are the focal points of discussion, although doing so is not a requirement for either program.

On October 18, local author Gretchen Sorin, Ph.D., will open the series with a discussion of her recently published book, Driving While Black: African American Travel and the Road to Civil Rights.

The November 15 program will feature a discussion of the novel, The Underground Railroad, by Colson Whitehead, winner of the 2016 Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award for Fiction, led by Dr. George Hovis, Professor of English at SUNY Oneonta.

The Sunday Speaker programs are scheduled for 3:00 p.m. via Zoom; participants may register online at fovl.eventbrite.com.
