Congressman Pushes For Volunteer Responder Benefits

Congressman Richard Hanna is pushing for more benefits for volunteer firefighters. The supporting emergency responders volunteer efforts or "Serve Act of 2013" would create a $1,000 income tax credit for bonafide members of volunteer firefighting and medical service organizations.

The money would help with out of pocket costs for volunteers and emergency responders. Congressman Hanna hopes the Serve Act will encourage new volunteers to join the ranks of local departments.
