Colgate Football Gets “Stormed Out,” Donates Rooms and Meals to Hurricane Victims
By TSM
With wins over Holy Cross and New Hampshire, Colgate football is off to it's best start since 2009. While no one has been able to slow the 2-0 Raiders on the football field, Mother Nature was up for the challenge. It was announced recently by Colgate University officials that the Raiders scheduled game against Furman in Greenville, South Carolina at 1p.m. Saturday has been cancelled. The game will not be made up so Colgate unfortunately will only play ten regular season games this year.
But this decision put football in perspective. Colgate has decided to release the hotel rooms booked for their team to those who really need it. The people being displaced by Hurricane Florence.
Colgate still bought the team meals and requested that the hotel serve those meals to the people who have been relocated. If that is not enough Colgate has arranged for the food scheduled to be delivered to the airplane after the game to instead have those meals distributed wherever it could do the most good.
While Colgate football will not make it to the Palmetto State in 2018, but they still are making their presence felt in South Carolina this weekend. Colgate hosts Lafayette on Saturday September 22nd and as always all the action can be heard on 94 KXZ.
