ONEONTA, N.Y. – Thanks to the Stamford-Hobart Rotary and the Inner Wheel organization, children who receive check-ups at 125 Main Street in Oneonta will have free access to developmentally appropriate books.

Rotary President Shirley Popp and other members of the chapter visited the Bassett Healthcare Network— Oneonta Health Center to make a large donation for the “Reach out and Read” program.

Inner Wheel’s donated 100 copies of "Who's Who Around the World" will ensure that the Reach Out and Read program continues.

Reach Out and Read is a literacy program offered at several Bassett health centers. Children are given a new developmentally appropriate book at every check up from 6 months to 5 years of age. This encourages growth of early literacy skills for the young patients.
