SUNY Oneonta and its student association paid Princeton University professor Cornel West $30,000 for his lecture last week at the Alumni Field House.

SUNY officials say the sum covered the preparation and presentation of his lecture plus a live telecast and web streaming rights, plus transportation to and from the campus and two receptions, one with informal interaction with students.

West spoke on the 20th anniversary of the controversial police use of racial profiling where the college released a list of all African-American students enrolled. It is known as "The Black List."

Nearly 3,000 people attended the lecture.
