Have you seen this mural on the Dietz Street side of the Oneonta History Center?  It's a scene from a former Downtown Oneonta business that used to be in the Oneonta History Center building - Galinn's Jewelers.

This mural is the first of five murals painted by artist Carol Mandigo that The Greater Oneonta Historical Society is undertaking.  All the murals will be positioned to cover the first floor windows that were bricked-over decades ago. All the renderings will reflect daily life of the previous occupants of the 1866 building, the oldest brick building on Main Street.

If you recognize the people in the murals, that's because Mandigo is using current, local residents as models for the paintings.  To find out more about the project and the interesting history of the GOHS building, CLICK HERE.
