The Hudson Valley is among the most popular regions of Upstate New York.  There is just so much to see, so much beauty, so much history!

The region is also dotted with some of the best ice cream stands in Upstate.  This gallery showcases ten of them.  They are all scrumptious!

As you will see, several of these ice cream stands are old, or should we say, legendary.  Some going back 40 and 50 years.  And, amazingly enough, one of the stands has to be among the oldest ice cream stands in New York.  It clocks in at 110 years old.  In this writer's book, that makes this absolutely legendary.  Check it out in the gallery.

You will find these little ice cream oasis' on both side of the Hudson River.  They track down from around the Capital District to just around the Gov. Cuomo/Tappan Zee Bridge.  Each place also gets a mention of an ice cream specialty that they offer or a little bit of trivia.  I have included a link to the ice cream destination's social media page for directions and hours.  Oh, and keep your eye out for the one stand that made "The World's Longest Ice Cream Sundae."  Cool story!

So, the next time you are visiting the Franklin D. Roosevelt historic site in Hyde Park, or as you look to cool off after strolling the Walkway Over the Hudson be sure and be on the  lookout of these little places with the neon signs calling to you to come in, sit for a spell, and have a cone on them!
