A Winter Storm Is Coming For Chenango and Otsego Counties

In Otsego County, we dodged that last Noreaster storm that dumped considerable snow on certain parts of Upstate New York, even though we've had to suffer through very frigid temperatures within a week's time, but don't blink now because there is a storm predicted for Chenango and Otsego County that is being watched by the National Weather Service in Binghamton and at this point in time, it's been dubbed by the NWS as a "winter storm watch" and it starts late Wednesday night.

The counties impacted by this watch are Chemung, Chenango, Otsego, Tioga, and Broome counties, and not only is the NWS calling for several inches of snow starting possibly late Wednesday night but along with the snow, sleet is expected and that means icing everywhere making travel dangerous. We all know that so much of driving conditions depends on the temperature and the amount and type of precipitation that we get but to be forewarned is to be forearmed by having plenty of ice melt on hand, a bag of sand or cat litter in your car in case you get stuck in the snow or on ice. I find that cat litter does a great job when you need traction under the wheels of your car. Add a small shovel to carry in your vehicle as well since you never know when you'll get stuck and need it.
