Whit Whitaker and his wife, Rosemary, are seen in the above photograph at the site of the new "Whitaker Way" road sign (Sidney mayor Andy Matviak is on the left).  The sign is at the location of, and honors the legendary car dealership owned by several generations of Whit's family on Main Street in Sidney.

Note that the sign identifies the years in operation as 1911-2008.

The Whitaker car dealership began in 1911 with great-grandfather George Whitaker. Other generations followed right up to Glen "Whit" Whitaker, Jr. who joined the family business in 1984.  The dealership was known for its integrity and excellent customer service.  This legacy business, located at 20 Main Street, was one of Sidney's most well known businesses.

After a devastating fire and a major flood, Whit closed the family business in 2007.

Congratulations to Whit Whitaker and your family on a job well done and on receiving this special  honor in Sidney!
