After more than 25 years in local veterinary service, Dr. Joan Puritz is retiring.  She is a highly respected member of the Oneonta community and her care for both animals and their owners is legendary.  Here is Dr. Puritz's farewell letter to her friends posted on the Oneonta Veterinary Hospital's Facebook page.

Dear Friends,

In 1994, I moved to Oneonta from the North Country of New York to find a place to raise my children and to be closer to their grandparents. It was a good place, and the kids thrived, grew up, and moved on. I have been very happy here, but I find the pull of adventure leading me away. Life is short, and there's so much I want to do. However, it seems there's too little time, so it seems the only solution is to move on.

I just want to thank each and every one of you for trusting in me to care for your pets over the years, and I wish you well into the future. My associate, Dr Stafford, will be staying on at the hospital, and I'm sure she will give your pet the best she can offer.

Lastly, I would like to share something I have had on my wall to remind me how to live my life. It is from life's little instruction calendar:

Work hard. Dream big. Be enthusiastic. Keep learning. Pay your bills. Be honest. Stay generous.

Thank you, thank you and thank you.

Sincerely,

Joan Puritz DVM

All of us at Townsquare Media wish Dr. Puritz good health and a happy retirement.
