The annual Hunger Walk in Walton has been scheduled for Sunday, September 30. The walk which features both a 5K and one mile option starts at Austin-Lincoln Park, off of East Street, in Walton.

Registrations will begin at 2 PM, with a welcome and introductions at 2:45 and the walk beginning at 3 PM. This year the breakdown of proceeds will include 40% to the Walton Food Bank, 25% to the Backpack program (weekend meals for children in need) 25% to the churches who provide the free meals, the final 10% will be donated to the Wild ‘n Wooly 4H Club in Walton, who has been completing various projects to beautify the community.

A new addition to the event is a bake sale for the community.

Participants can walk in a team: a family team, a team from your work, a church team or a neighborhood team; or they can just walk as an individual. If you want to join the walk and have not collected donations, you can bring a donation and walk that day. If you have any other questions you can call Denise Jackson at 631-327-3118.

If you are unable to walk but would like to participate, you can do so by making a donation to someone else who is walking, stopping by Austin Lincoln that day and bringing a donation, or sending a donation to Walton Ministerial Association, c/o New Hope Community Church, Stockton Avenue, Walton, NY 13856. UHS Delaware Valley Hospital and A&D Taxi and Transport sponsor the event each year and new sponsors joined this year including: Wayne Bank, Sidney Federal Credit Union and Community Bank.
