Early Thursday morning, May 28, 2020, members of the Village of Sidney Police Department assisted Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies with the arrest of a Walton woman on a Warrant of Arrest issued by the Delaware County Court for violation of probation.

On March 13, 2020, Delaware County Court issued an arrest warrant for 33 year-old Nikita M. Kingsbury for violating the terms of her probation supervision imposed on December 16, 2019 as a result of her conviction for criminal possession of a controlled substance the fifth degree. The conviction is a result of Kingsbury’s September 5, 2019, arrest by members of the Delaware County Sheriff's Office on a charge of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the second degree. Kingsbury’s arrest was one of several that resulted from the seizure of more than five (5) ounces of methamphetamine during the execution of a search warrant issued in a month long investigation by Delaware County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigators into the trafficking of methamphetamine from a 37 Union Street, Sidney, NY, apartment last year.

Members of the Sidney Police Department, acting on a tip, located and arrested Kingsbury on the probation warrant early Thursday morning. Kingsbury was turned over to Sheriff’s Deputies and held in the Delaware County Correctional Facility pending her arraignment in Delaware County Court. Kingsbury was arraigned Thursday via remote teleconference with Delaware County Court Judge Richard D. Northrup, Jr., who ordered Kingsbury be held in the Delaware County Correctional Facility without bail pending further court action.
