UPDATE (3:15 PM):

An update from Troop C regarding the fatal car accident in Otego. New York State Police at Oneonta responded to Betty Beavers Gas Mart on County Road 48 in the town of Otego early this morning for a report of a vehicle that crashed into a concrete wall.

An investigation revealed that at approximately 2:50 a.m., a 27-year-old Brooke N. Ketchum of Unadilla, NY was operating a 2015 Kia Optima, traveling at a high rate of speed on State Highway 991J, when she traveled through the intersection of County Road 48 then through the parking lot of Betty Beavers Gas Mart and into a concrete wall.

Responding troopers did pull Ketchum out of the vehicle and life saving measures were performed by Otego EMS personnel but were unsuccessful.  The Otsego County Coroner responded to the scene and the body was transported to Lourdes Hospital for an autopsy.  The investigation continues.

A Unadilla woman died early this morning after she allegedly crashed her car into the wall by the Betty Beaver gas station on Route 48 in Otego.

According to Trooper Aga Dembinska, public information officer, Troop C, troopers from Oneonta responded to a crash at 2:50 a.m. in Town of Otego and found the victim, a 27 year old female from Unadilla, deceased inside a 2015 Kia.

The investigation revealed that the victim was allegedly traveling at a high rate of speed southbound on State Highway 991J in Otego when she passed through the intersection with County Highway 48. She continued into the parking lot of the Betty Beaver gas station and struck a concrete retaining wall.

The victim’s name is being withheld at this time, pending contact with the family.  It is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
