This Thursday evening, December 4th from 5:30pm to 8pm, Downtown Oneonta will celebrate the holiday season with the annual Christmas Tree Lighting event.  According to Destination Oneonta volunteer Rachel Lutz Jessup, much more fun has been added to the schedule of events.  See the details below:

Throughout Main Street.: Horse drawn wagon rides throughout the evening; Gingerbread contest entries on display at The Oneonta History Center, KeyBank and The Bagel Co; Fokine Ballet's Nutcracker dancers can been seen at OWL, Monkey Barrel Toys, Lelani’s, Time To Tan, Tina Marie's Salon, Roots Brewery, and Alpine.  Plus, Huntington Library’s Story Walk is going on.  Elsa, from the movie "Frozen", along with Frosty the Snowman will both be wandering the street spreading cheer.

For shopping, Downtown Merchants open late – Teleky’s, Artisans Guild, Transitions Boutique, Monkey barrel Toys, The new Blossom and Sprout store, Theresa’s Emporium, Shakedown Street, Razzle Dazzle, Dietz and Wall Wines, McLaughlins Shoes, McLaughlins clothing, Greentoad Bookstore, Ironwood Antiques, and the Oneonta History Center.

Dinner and happy hour specials: Nina’s Italian Grill, The Autumn Cafe and The Red Caboose Restaurant.

Near City Hall:  Singers including ETHAN HARRIS 5.30 to 8, kids stuff at OWL, Hot Cider, Hot Chocolate and coffee and Liberty Tree Chocolates.

In Muller Plaza: Singers including ETHAN HARRIS 5.30 to 8, free hot chocolate and Ommegang beer at Red Caboose, BJ’s doing cider and cookies, OWL with kids activities at the Santa cottage.

TREE LIGHTING at 6PM in the Plaza – Gingerbread winners will be announced.

From Dietz Street to Chestnut Street: Booths – Oneonta YMCA with free glow sticks for kids. Oneonta Farmers Market booth with cookies; Alpacas to visit and opportunity to purchase Alpaca products; SUNY Oneonta accapella group; free hot chocolate at Alpine.

It's certainly a fun filled night so come down with friends and family to enjoy this free event!
