On Sunday, May 31, 2020, thousands gathered in the vicinity of Binghamton High School on Main Street in Binghamton and calmly walked in solidarity together to Recreation Park.

Following the protest gathering in Recreation Park on Binghamton's West Side, protesters walked back from the park to Governmental Plaza where they gathered for several more hours.

As of 4:00 a.m. on Monday, June 1, there were only a few individuals still lingering in the downtown area. Binghamton Mayor Rich David tweeted his thanks to protesters for their calm and peaceful presence as they "exercised their First Amendment rights peacefully and without major incident."

According to WNBF, there were several reports of vandalism in the evening hours of Sunday, May 31, but police would not confirm whether they were directly related to the daytime protest nor would police confirm whether or not there were any arrests associated with the protest. Additionally, the playground at Recreation Park burned to the ground during the overnight hours, but there is no confirmation of whether or not its destruction is associated with the protests. An investigation is underway.
