The Susquehanna SPCA had raised its capital campaign goal for their new animal shelter from $2 million to $5 million so they could make additions including a community room (for birthday parties and visits with pets) and a thrift store to the planned new shelter. According to AllOTSEGO more than $3.2 million has been donated towards the project, surpassing their fundraising goal in 2019 but there's still a long way to go to $5 million. Executive Director Stacie Haynes says they anticipate a March groundbreaking for the Route 28 shelter near Phonenix Mills Road. Haynes says they still need donations.
