Meet the Susquehanna SPCA “Pet of the Week” – his name is “Lakitu”.  Every Tuesday morning on Classic Hits 103.1fm, Allison Hungerford, licensed Vet Tech at the Susquehanna SPCA, will tell us all about a special dog or cat at the shelter looking for its forever home which has been overlooked by visitors for some reason. Many times, it's because many animals are shy while in the shelter because it can be a stressful situation! Once adopted, many cats and dogs warm right up to their owners.

This week we're going to feature Lakitu, a 1-year-old male kitty who is searching for his forever home. Lakitu is a very happy, mellow boy who has a heartwarming story. When he came to the SQSPCA originally, he was very timid and nervous in the shelter environment and spent a lot of his time hiding. This is not uncommon for kitties when they first enter the shelter, but Lakitu's scenario was different. He came from a home with lots and lots of other cats which made it hard for him to interact one on one with people.
The SQSPCA is happy to say that, thanks to the hard work of volunteers, visitors, and staff, Lakitu now spends his time confidently meandering around our community room and has learned that people are pretty cool (and they bring treats)! Lakitu does prefer to do his own thing from time to time, but he also adores attention. Because Lakitu is one of the SQSPCA's longest kitty residents we've waived his adoption fee to help him find his forever home.
Folks interested in adopting Lakitu should give the SQSPCA a call at 607-547-8111. To browse all the SQSPCA's adoptable animals and to learn more about their adoption process, please visit: https://linktr.ee/sqspca
