SUNY Oneonta will present “Independent Spirit,” a group exhibition by 24 regional artists, from January 25 to March 18 in the college’s Martin-Mullen Art Gallery. The exhibition features a broad range of media, including painting, drawing, film, print, sculpture and photography. The largest installation is a 43-foot mural, created on site by Cooperstown artist Christine Heller. Titled “A Story of Their Own: Refugees in Crisis,” the mural portrays Syrian refugees walking across Europe.

On January 28, there will be an opening reception in the Martin-Mullen Art Gallery for this exhibit from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a talk at 6 p.m.
