SUNY Oneonta Emergency Drill Set for Friday

ONEONTA, N.Y. — SUNY Oneonta has rescheduled the full-scale emergency preparedness drill originally slated for last Friday. The exercise will take place this Friday in the afternoon.

Oneonta Public Transit and first responders from the city of Oneonta will join the college to simulate a bus accident at approximately 1 p.m. near the intersection of Ravine Parkway and West Dormitory Drive on the college's campus.

As part of this drill, the section of West Dormitory Drive nearest that intersection may be closed to vehicular traffic for a short period of time. SUNY Oneonta regularly conducts emergency simulations in partnership with local police agencies, fire departments and other agencies.

Led by the University Police Department, these drills give participants practice in dealing with natural disasters and other dangerous scenarios.
