SUNY Oneonta’s traditional opening day picnic is delayed this year as it will be the observation of the college’s 130th anniversary. The event is now being called the Founders Day Picnic, is scheduled for Sept. 4 which is the day in 1889 that the formal dedication of the Oneonta State Normal School took place. Attendees are urged to being a non perishable food item for the president’s Yes We Can initiative to help stock local food pantries and the food pantry in Hunt Union.
