Assistant professor of anthropology at SUNY Oneonta, Dr. Tracy Betsinger, has been awarded the 2012 Richard Siegfried Junior Faculty Prize for academic excellence.

Betsinger will deliver the 18th annual Richard Siegfried lecture, “Vampire and Myth: Views of the Undead from Historical and Bioarchaeological Perspectives,” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the craven lounge of the Morris Conference Center.

The Siegfried Prize recognizes a non-tenured faculty member for outstanding academic achievement outside the classroom. The award is made possible by a gift from Alice Siegfried to the College at Oneonta Foundation in memory of her husband, theater professor Richard K. Siegfried, who taught at the college from 1958 to 1995.

Admission to the event is free, and community members are invited to attend the presentation and the dessert reception that precedes it at 7 p.m.
