According to the State Labor Department, the New York State economy added 23,800 private sector jobs in April.

As a result, New York reached an all-time high private sector job count of 7.45 million in April.

Between March and April 2013 New York’s unemployment rate fell from 8.2 percent to 7.8 percent, the lowest level in more than 5 years.

The national unemployment rate for April was 7.5 % compared to 8.1% in April 2012.
