At approximately 8:20 a.m. Friday, State Police at Sidney responded to a report of a vehicle with multiple vehicle and traffic violations.

State Police along with help from Deposit Police located the vehicle driven by Edward C. Sherman on Route 206 in Masonville and pursued him when he failed to stop. He was followed up Randall Hill Road where he stopped then drove his pick-up truck backwards causing extensive damage to two state police cars.

The remaining patrol vehicles followed Sherman on numerous roads until he drove into a stone quarry and allegedly proceeded to intentionally strike three police vehicles causing a trooper minor injuries. Sherman then fled on foot and an extensive search located him three hours later in a field in Masonville. Sherman faces four counts of reckless endangerment, first degree; four counts of criminal mischief, second degree; and unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, third degree.

Sherman was arraigned in town of Franklin court and remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $30,000 cash bail.
