New York farmers once again display their giving spirit by dropping off truckloads of locally grown food to the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York. The event is in conjunction with the start of New York Farm Bureau’s annual state meeting in Albany.

Members and supporting food companies give as part of a yearlong effort to feed the hungry across the state.

The donations bring the total of food donated by farmers across the state this year to more than 5.3 million pounds. With a few weeks left in 2012, it is expected that the farmer donations will climb even higher.

Food is collected through the “harvest for all” donation program. “Harvest for all” is a nationwide annual farm donation partnership linking the farm bureau and feeding America in each state.
