Sidney PD Investigation Leads to Guns, Ammo Confiscation
The Sidney (NY) Police Department, in partnership with the U.S. Homeland Security Department, conducted a federal search of a Sidney residence on July 8th, 2021 following a near year long investigation. As a result, a Sidney man was charged with multiple felony counts and a large number of weapons and ammunition were confiscated.
Jordan J. O'Neill, 35, 243 Johnson Circle, Sidney, was arrested and remanded to the Delaware County jail on $125,000 cash bail, or $250,000 bond. He had a prior felony conviction which meant that he was prevented from possessing a firearm. He was charged as following:
*** 1 count of Criminal possession of a weapon in the 1st degree - possession of ten or more firearms, Class B felony.
*** 41 counts of Criminal possession of a weapon in the 3rd degree – possession of a large capacity ammunition feeding device, Class D felony.
During the execution of the search warrant 6 handguns and 18 rifles and/or shotguns, readily capable of firing ammunition were recovered, 4 of which were of the type commonly referred to as “ghost guns” or having no serial numbers. Also recovered were 41 high-capacity magazines, which are magazines readily capable of holding more than 10 rounds of ammunition. Several of these were magazines that are commonly referred to as “Drum” magazines which can hold upwards of 50 to 100 rounds of ammunition. A large assortment of parts for the manufacture of AR15 style rifles were seized as well. Which included barrels, upper receivers, lower receivers, and butt stocks. Over 18,000 rounds of assorted ammunition were also seized at the residence.
