In a department press release today the Otsego County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of Cody Amidon, 19,  of Sidney following a complaint of a stolen ATV from a residence yard in the Town of Butternuts.

While patrols were in the area a second complaint came into Dispatch of an attempted break in at different residence in the Town of Butternuts where the subject fled the scene on an ATV.  Responding deputy then attempted to stop defendant who was observed operating a stolen ATV southbound on State Hwy 51. The defendant failed to stop for the patrol and exited the roadway into a yard then into a hay field while the deputy pursued the individual. The defendant then exited the hay field into a riverbank where the deputy continued to pursue the defendant on foot. The defendant then exited the ATV and fled the scene on foot. State Police K-9 and other deputies responded to the incident location for a search. The subject was later located following another complaint of a male subject walking down State Hwy 51 in the Town of Butternuts.

The defendant was arraigned and sent to the Otsego County Correctional Facility on 500.00 dollar bail

Grand Larceny 4th
Criminal Mischief
Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 3rd
Unlicensed Operation
Failure to Obey Police Officer
