Several roads in our listening area were severely damaged by the recent heavy rainfall and flooding which took place on Saturday July 17.  The damage was significant and repairs will take time and be very costly.  As of the latest report issued last night (Wednesday) here are area roads that are closed:

New York State Roads: From Village of Morris south (between Dimock Hollow Road and Nichols Road near the Butternuts/Morris town line remains closed.

Town of Butternuts:  Dunham Cross Road is still closed.

Town of Morris:  Dimock Hollow Road between Creighton and State Highway 23 is closed.  Gulf Road between Pegg/Potato Farm Road is closed.  Pittsley Road between Dimock Hollow Road and West Hill is closed.

Town of Pittsfield:  Cobb Road and Hawks Road are closed.

Town of Unadilla:  ALL roads are currently open.

As a reminder, the Office of Emergency Services is asking motorists to adhere to "road closing" signage and obey traffic barriers until necessary road repairs are made to assure safe passage.  In addition, while some roadways have been made passable, please continue to exercise extreme caution when traveling through these areas.
