Sen. Seward’s Students Wrap Up Legislative Internships
State Senator James L. Seward (R/C/I/Ref – Oneonta) met with two of his former students on the floor of the New York State Senate during the last scheduled day of the 2019 legislative session. Theo Malone (photo, left) and Joe Nolan (photo, right) were both students of Senator Seward’s during the fall 2017 semester at Hartwick College.
“Teaching a course at my alma mater was a great experience and to see two of my students flourishing as staff members with my fellow senators is extremely gratifying,” said Senator Seward. “It was on the Hartwick College campus where my love for politics and public service blossomed, and I hope I succeeded in inspiring a similar interest in our next generation of leaders like Theo and Joe.”
Senator Seward served as an adjunct professor of political science during the fall 2017 semester. Seward developed and taught “New York State Politics and Policy” examining the policy-making process and politics of New York State government.
Theo Malone of Oneonta served as a legislative session intern with Senator Robert Antonacci. Malone will return to Hartwick College this fall for his senior year where he is majoring in Political Science and Economics
Joe Nolan of West Oneonta served as a legislative session intern with Senator Jen Metzger. Nolan graduated from Hartwick College in May 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science.
