Sen. Seward’s Grant Provides New Fire Siren for West Oneonta
State Senator James Seward announced the West Oneonta Fire Department is receiving a $30,000 grant to upgrade an obsolete outdoor siren system. The old system is over sixty years old and Chief Walter Schmitt says the new outdoor siren is a tool that will improve our response time and help alert the community of emergency situations. The new siren is capable of several different tone warnings for fire alerting and natural disasters along with voice announcements. It is 100 percent solar powered.
