State Senator James Seward joined members of the Senate Republican Conference calling for the repeal of the “Green Light Law.” which permits undocumented immigrants from obtaining a driver license. This week an amendment brought to the floor of the Senate to begin the repeal process was defeated along party lines. Earlier this month the Department of Homeland Security announced a suspension on New Yorkers’ enrollment eligibility for multiple “Trusted Traveler” programs as a result of the “Green Light Law”.
