New York State’s two senators want to see more fruit from the state
headed to Europe.

Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand have asked the Obama
Administration to push New York State’s apples and pears when the United
States participates in another round of trade talks with European
leaders in Belgium this week.

The senators want Europe to lower the trade barriers they say give an unfair
disadvantage to U.S. produce.

Imports to the European Union from New York State growers have dropped
about 75% over the last few years according to reports.
