Schoharie County farmer Richard Ball has been confirmed by the New York Senate as Commissioner of the Department of Agriculture and Markets.

Senator James Seward moved the nomination of Ball as a member of the senate Committee on Agriculture and Markets. Commissioner Ball, a longtime Schoharie County farmer, has been serving as Acting Commissioner since he was nominated by the Governor Cuomo in January.

Seward congratulated Richard Ball on Tuesday following his unanimous confirmation, saying Ball has done a great deal for Schoharie County and that he was excited that Ball's expertise would now be helping farmers across the state.
