In January, a report released by New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli’s office listed the Schenevus School District as being under financial distress. On Tuesday, the amount of that distress was made known at the Board of Education meeting.  According to the school district website, "Schenevus' fund balance was depleted to pay for the 2018-19 budget without raising local taxes above the tax cap. Therefore, local taxes and state aid are the only sources of revenue to fund the district's expenses for the 2019-20 school year."

The next meeting of the Budget Advisory Committee will be on May 6 beginning at 6:30 p.m.  This committee will recommend to the Board of Education, ways to balance the budget. The public is welcome to attend.
